夢は終わらない～The dream never ends...～

安芸太田町に住みながら広島市内の大学へ通われているロサンゼルス出身のデーモン・チャップマンさん。
平成21年に古民家を購入し、町の定住支援制度などを活用しながら、約5年半をかけてコツコツとリフォームされました。

日本の伝統的な造りを随所に見せながら、おしゃれで素敵な家に大変身しています。

Mr. Damon E. Chapman is a university professor, born in Los Angeles.He lives in Akiota-town now, and goes to work in Hiroshima-city.
He bought an old-Japanese-style house in Akiota-town 7 years ago,and has renovated the house by himself, using settlement assistance system of Akiota-town.

Now, his house transformed into a stylish, wonderful Japanese-style house!!

家からの景色が最高！

　広島県内いろいろな物件を見て探していましたが、職場である市内にも近いこと、隣の家から離れていること、古民家で家からの景色が最高だったことなどから、この物件の購入を決めました。

　家は随分と傷んでおり、お風呂も五右衛門風呂で入れる状態ではありませんでした。当初は、近くの温泉施設に3年間お世話になりました。今から2年半前に念願のお風呂が完成したんですよ。

I've viewed many houses in Hiroshima. I felt that Akiota-town is not so far from Hiroshima-city（my workplace）, neighbors are not so close to my house, and I like old-Japanese-style houses. And then, the landscape from this house was so beautiful.Therefore, I decided to buy this house.

At that time, this house was highly damaged. The bath was Goemon-style!! Could not take the Goemon-bath, so I used to go to the spa near my house for 3 years. At last, the new bath was completed two and a half years ago.

伝統を大切にしているところが素敵

　町の人はとても優しく、フレンドリー。野菜作りも教えてくれました。また、田舎の人は特に神楽などの伝統を大切にしているところが素敵だと感じています。

　家に天窓を設けているんですが朝起きたらサルちゃんが覗いていて目が合った時にはさすがにビックリしました（笑）

　畑にも野菜を作って楽しんでいますが、サルやイノシシに食べられちゃいました。毎年少しずつ勉強しています！！あと、虫は大丈夫なんですが、ムカデだけはちょっと苦手かな…（笑）。

The people in this town is so kind and friendly. They taught me how to grow vegetables. And they value the tradition（Kagura,etc）. Especially, I feel that so nice.

I installed the skylight in my house. One day, when I woke up, there was a cute monkey looking at my eyes from the skylight!! I was really surprised at that time.

I enjoy growing vegetables at my field, but, they had eaten by monkies and wild boars!! So　every year I'm studying little by little about growing vegetables. And I'm not scared of any insects, but only centipedes I'm scared of・・・!!

現在も、少しずつ自ら改修されています。

春には桜を眺めながらジャグジーに！

　楽しい！！次はどんな改修をしようか…考えるのが楽しいです。ウッドデッキをこれから作り、BBQなど楽しむ予定です。

　春には桜を眺めながらジャグジーに入り、夏には川遊び、冬にはスキーもできます。ちょっと足を延ばせば海にも行けて、何でもできます。

It's fun!!“Next time, what kind of renovation will I do・・・”It's fun for me thinking about that. I'm going to make a wood deck, and enjoy barbecues.

In spring, I take a Jacuzzi bath viewing cherry blossoms.In summer, we swim in the river.In winter, we can ski.If we drive a little further, we can go to the sea, and enjoy many activities.

　5年前に筒賀に家を購入しました。本当にとても気に入ってます！

　自分で野菜を作ったりして、自然を満喫しています。安芸太田町にはすべてがそろってるよ！！

　ここでは、夏に泳ぎに行ったり釣りをしたりできるし、春や秋にはハイキングして綺麗な紅葉も見れます。冬にはスキーやスノーボードをして、温泉も楽しめるよ！！そして何と言っても、ここの人たちはとても親切で優しいです。

　ぜひ、リラックスしに来て、美味しいステーキやお好み焼きを食べて、安芸太田町の田舎ライフを満喫してください！

I'm really pleased with this house that I bought in Tsutsuga area 5 years ago.

I grow vegetables by myself, and enjoy this nature.In Akiota, almost all daily commodities we can get!!

In summer we can enjoy swimming, and fishing,in spring and autumn we go hiking, we can view beautiful autumn color of leaves.Skiing, snowboarding, and hot spring we can enjoy in winter!!Especially, people who live in Akiota-town are very kind and warm-hearted.

Please come to see this town to relax, eat delicious steaks and Okonomiyaki, and fully enjoy country-life in Akiota-town!!
